dc.description.abstract | State Civil Servants (ASN) are required to have high competence to support
improved employee performance and contribute to determining the future of the
organization. Competency is a collection and characteristics possessed by an
individual in the form of knowledge, skills and attitudes/behavior required to carry
out their job duties professionally, effectively and efficiently. However, employee
competency at the Medan sub-district office is still relatively low. This also has
implications for the performance results of West Medan sub-district employees,
which are still not in accordance with the realization targets. The purpose of this
research is to analyze the influence of employee competency which includes
motives, character, self-concept, knowledge and skills on employee performance
which includes quality, quantity, timeliness, effectiveness and independence at the
West Medan District Office, Medan City.
The research method used is a quantitative approach by distributing
questionnaires. The population in this study is all employee at the west Medan
distric office of Medan City. The sample used as many as 26 respondents. Data
analysis using the SPSS ver 24 with a simple linear regression analysis method
Research Results Based on statistical testing using the t test partial shows
that the t value is calculated for the competence variable has a greater value than
the t table, with a significance value smaller than 0.05. So it can be concluded that
Ho is rejected and Ha accepted, meaning that competence has a positive and
significant effect on employee performance at the West Medan District Office.
Based on calculation with the coefficient of determination obtained the value of R
Square of 0.775 which indicates that the employee competency variable has an
influence of 77.5% on employee performance, while the other 22,5% is influenced
