This research is a quantitative descriptive study regarding the analysis of the
socio-economic status of coastal families on the selection of children's education
levels in Tanjung Leidong Village, North Labuhan Batu Regency. The quality of
human resources is a common characteristic of coastal communities in various
regions in Indonesia. Economic difficulties cause coastal children not to have the
opportunity to study. In 2020 there were 43 students who dropped out of school, in
2021 there were 37 students who dropped out of school and in 2022 there were 11
people who dropped out of school. Education is a social capital that can be a means
to get out of the poverty line. Education is a very important thing for the progress
and welfare of society. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship
between social economic status and the selection of children's education level in
Tanjung Leidong Village. This research uses quantitative methods. Respondents in
this study were the people of Tanjung Leidong Village with a total population of
2,077 people. The sample selection was carried out using the quota sampling
technique, namely, determining the number of samples based on the number of
samples that had been determined in each community. The number of samples in
this study were 100 respondents. The results of this study note that, the socio economic status of families is tested using the simultaneous test (f test) so that a
significance value of 0.000 is obtained which is less than 0.05, so the socio economic status of coastal families has a significant effect on the level of education
of children in the village of Tanjung Leidong. Likewise with the influence test it is
known that the sig. it is 0.000 <0.05, then the variable of the respondent's social
economic status influences the education level variable.
