dc.description.abstractThis research is entitled Perceptions of Students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of North Sumatra towards the video content criticizing Bintang Emon "Ga Sengaja" on Instagram. The aim of this research is to determine the perceptions of students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at the University of North Sumatra regarding the content of Bintang Emon's video criticism "unintentionally" on Instagram. This research method is descriptive qualitative to collect detailed actual information, identify problems and examine. The object of this research is the perception of students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of North Sumatra regarding the content of the Bintang Emon Criticism video. The research subjects were active students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University ofNorth Sumatra. Determining informants was carried out using a purposive technique where researchers determined informants using special characteristics and in accordance with the research objectives. The main informants in this research are students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of North Sumatra, while the additional informants in this research are comics graduates of the Stand Up Academy (SUCA) who live in North Sumatra. The research period was carried out from June 2022 to December 2022. Data collection techniques were carried out using in-depth interviews, observations or observations. Data analysis was carried out by data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and data validity using source triangulation which was achieved by comparing or examining the data obtained. The results obtained in this research are that the perceptions of students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at the University of North Sumatra regarding the video content criticizing Bintang Emon "Ga Sengaja" on Instagram are also highly appreciated, supported and proud of by students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. Politics, University of North Sumatra. Students must have the courage to criticize even though in reality not all students do. So it can be concluded that the perception of students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of North Sumatra is also positive in supporting the video criticizing Bintang Emon. The perceptionof students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of North Sumatra regarding the role of Instagram as a medium for criticism is indeed positive, Instagram isa social media that is popular with many adults and is often used to convey criticism. Posting criticism on Instagram also gives satisfaction to students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of North Sumatra because of its wide coverage and getting responses or getting reciprocal interactions from fellow Instagram users. For students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of North Sumatra, if they want to comment, they must do so without insulting any party, because anyone is free to have an opinion.en_US
