Background: Broccoli vegetables, this type of plant is very vulnerable to insect and fungal attacks and pesticides that are often used by farmers, namely pyrethroid groups with active ingredients of cypermethrin and deltamethrin. The negative impact when exceeding the predetermined BMR will experience the effects of toxicity, asthma, allergies
,nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, fainting, coma, death.
Objective: This study aims to determine the results of the presence or absence of pesticides made from sipermethrin and deltamethrin in the tested broccoli and whether the levels obtained meet the BMR set by SNI.
Method: Broccoli samples were taken from a supermarket called Berastagi supermarket in Medan city. Determination of chlorpyrifos pesticide residue levels in celery was carried out at the UPT Pesticide Quality and Residue Testing Laboratory. PTPH North Sumatra Province. Sample extraction using solvents acetone, dichloromethane, and petroleum ether (1:1:1 v/v) in 90 ml. The extraction results were concentrated and then dissolved with isooctane and toluene (9:1v/v) in 10 ml. The extract was then analyzed using HP-5 column gas chromatography; ECD detector; column temperature 270C; injector temperature 290C; detector temperature 290C; mobile phase of nitrogen gas (flow rate 30 ml/min) and helium gas (flow rate 5 ml/min); and injection volume 1 μl.
Results: The results showed that celery tested for the presence of an average level of 0.538 mg/kg cypermethrin pesticide residue was detected and deltamethrin pesticide residue was not detected. The levels obtained meet the requirements agreed by SNI, namely BMR pesticide sipermethrin 1 mg / kg and deltamethrin 0.1 mg / kg.
Conclusion: The residual levels of pesticides cypermethrin and deltamethrin in broccoli meet the BMR set by SNI.
