dc.description.abstractBased on research observations, ten out of forty Papuan female students living in the USU Women's Dormitory showed signs of smartphone addiction. One of the symptoms is that they use smartphones all the time for various activities such as ordering food via the Grabfood application, as well as a tendency to use online shops, and Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok applications which makes them appear less active in direct social interaction and more familiar with friends. on line. They are also unable to limit the time they use smartphones, which also makes them lazier and anti-social in real life. Thus, this research aims to analyze Smartphone Addiction among Papuan Female Students in the USU Girls' Dormitory. This research uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The descriptive method is research carried out to describe the objects and phenomena being studied. Through this research, several facts were found that their smartphone addiction is classified as abnormal in terms of the duration of use per day which has exceeded the limit, namely reaching 15 or even 24 hours, with Tiktok as the longest and most frequently accessed application, followed by Youtube, Instagram and Facebook. Such an overdosed pattern of smartphone use causes them to experience social dysfunction. Namely not carrying out life tasks, social roles, and functions as a student, and tend not to fight for their dreams and life goals by studying and working harden_US
