Abstract
The Colorful Village of Tigarihit is one of the tourist villages located on Colonel TPR Sinaga Street, Parapat Village, Girsang Sipangan Bolon Subdistrict, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra Province. The purpose of this research is to identify the management of homestays and the challenges faced in managing homestays in the Colorful Village of Tigarihit. In connection with this, two research questions are presented:How is the management of homestays in the Colorful Village of Tigarihit in Parapat? What challenges are encountered in the management of homestays in the Colorful Village of Tigarihit in Parapat? The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive. Data collection techniques employed in the study include observation and direct interviews conducted at homestays in the Colorful Village of Tigarihit. Interviews with homestay managers were carried out to obtain data, a literature review method was used to gather references from libraries, and document analysis was performed to obtain a list of tourist visits. The results of this research indicate that the Colorful Village of Tigarihit has an inadequate management system due to several challenges, including poor cooperation among homestay managers, a lack of capital for facility upgrades, the emergence of new homestay competitors with more comprehensive facilities, a lack of knowledge in human resource management of homestays, and insufficient government training on standard operating procedures. Additionally, there are challenges faced by owners of tourist lodges/homestays in improving the quality of their accommodations.
