The title of this paper is "The Description of The Ogoh-ogoh in Balinese Nyepi".
The purpose of writing this paper is to explain the procedures and symbolic
meanings of Ogoh-ogoh in welcoming the Nyepi celebration of Balinese Hindus.
The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. Data
collection techniques used in this research include: interview, and documentation.
From the analysis, it is known that Ogoh-ogoh is a symbol of the ugliness of
human nature and the negativity of the universe, the process of applying Ogohogoh
and the function of Ogoh-ogoh. Based on the results of the research, it can
be concluded that the Ogoh-ogoh tradition is a tradition believed by the Hindu
community regarding supernatural beings or spirits that exist on earth to purify
Bhuana Agung (the great realm or the world) and Bhuana Alit (the small realm or
humans) which is carried out on the night of Pengerupukan the day before the
Seclusion holiday.
