Introduction. Acute Myocardial infarction (AMI) in men and women has an inversed relationship between the prevalence and mortality. Women have a higher death rate compared to men, especially after menopause. Estrogen protects women from cardiovascular disease by regulating predictor factors, such as lipids. As estrogen levels decrease with the increase of age, women are more likely to suffer from AMI at an older age. Objective. This study aims to determine the relationship between lipid profile and In-Hospital Mortality (IHM) in female patients suffering from AMI (STEMI, NSTEMI) at RSUP HAM Medan. Method. This study uses an observational analytical method with cross-sectional design and retrospective approach. The data taken is a secondary data from the medical records of female patients diagnosed with AMI who have reached menopause. Results. Out of the 36 menopausal women who suffered from AMI, all patients were >50 years old, with NSTEMI as the most common type of AMI (61.1%). The most common risk factor was DM with 20 samples (55.6%). There were 5 out of 36 patients (13.9%) who experienced in-hospital mortality. There was no relationship found between total cholesterol (p = 0.695), LDL (p = 0.605), HDL (p = 0.136), triglycerides (p = 0.605) and IHM. A relationship was found between hypertension (p = 0.031) and IHM. Conclusion. There were no associations found between lipid profile and IHM in female patients suffering from AMI who have reached menopause. However, a relationship was found between hypertension and patient’s IHM.en_US
