Uji Daya Antibakteri Ekstrak Etanol Kulit Durian (Durio zibethinus) terhadap Escherichia coli dan Klebsiella pneumoniae Penghasil ESBL
Abstract
Background: Durian (Durio zibethinus) had been used as a traditional medicine for a long time. Scientifically, durian contains secondary metabolites with antibacterial power, such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and glycosides. Indonesia also has a significant amount of durian shell waste. Resistant bacterial infections are also on the rise in Indonesia. Escherichia coli ESBL and Klebsiella pneumoniae ESBL are the most resistant infectious agents in urinary tract infections. Aim: This study was conducted to test the antibacterial activity of durian shell extract against E.coli ESBL and K. pneumonia ESBL as an alternative treatment while reducing the production of durian waste. Methods: This study used true experimental post-test only design with control group against E.coli ESBL and K. pneumoniae ESBL. Bacterial sensitivity test against extracts by disc diffusion method using ethanol extract of Durio zibethinus skin with various concentrations; 12.5%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 80%, and 100%. In this study, 6 repetitions were made to observe the inhibition zone of Durio zibethinus skin extract. Results: The treatment group of E. coli ESBL showed inhibition zone at the lowest concentration 50% with an average inhibition zone of 3.57 mm, while in K. pneumoniae ESBL showed inhibition zone at the lowest concentration 75% with an average inhibition zone of 3.73 mm. Conclusion: Durio zibethinus shell can inhibit the growth of Klebsiella pneumoniae ESBL more than Escherichia coli ESBL.
