Introduction. RA is chronic systemic inflammation that can attack the soft tissues of the joint resulting in impaired joint stability. Joint instability will increase cartilage wear and develop into OA. Objectives. The research aims to analyze the relationship between the incidence of knee OA and the characteristics of RA patients at Haji Adam Malik Hospital for the period 2020-2022. Methods. This research uses analytical research methods with a retrospective cohort study approach. The data used is secondary data originating from medical record data at Haji Adam Malik Hospital. Results. Of the 223 RA respondents, 181 people (81.2%) were women, 114 people (51.1%) aged 41-60 years, 80 people (35.6%) had overweighth, and 83 people (37.2%) were in remission of RA disease. Of the 53 respondents with knee OA from RA respondents, 43 people (81.1%) were women, 33 people (62.3%) aged 41-60 years, 30 people (56.5%) had obesity grade 1, and 23 people (43.3% ) severity of OA grade 2. There was no association between gender (p-value:1) and age (p-value:0,072) of RA patients with the incidence of knee OA. It was found that there was a relationship between BMI (p-value:0.001) and RA disease activity (p-value:0,001) with the incidence of knee OA. Conclusion. There is no relationship between gender and age of RA patients with the incidence of genu OA at Haji Adam Malik Hospital for the period 2020-2022. There is a relationship between BMI and RA disease activity with the incidence of knee OA at Haji Adam Malik Hospital for the period 2020-2022.
