dc.description.abstract | This research aims to describe the forms of social capital used by motorized pedicab drivers in Medan Amplas District, Medan City and social capital can be a survival strategy for motorcycle rickshaw groups in Medan Amplas District, Medan City. This research uses qualitative research with phenomenological methods. The technique for determining informants in this research used a purposive sampling technique, namely the main informants (motorcycle rickshaw drivers) and the communities around Medan Amplas District. The data collection techniques used in this research were in-depth interviews, observation, documentation and literature study. The results of this research describe that social capital can be an alternative as a survival strategy for motorized pedicab drivers. The dimensions of social capital are: (1) Norms (spontaneous-rational, queuing system, shared ownership of passengers, mutual respect, prioritizing passenger safety, and responsibility); (2) Trust (honest and open regarding passenger queues, group fees, rates and services); (3) Social network (the existence of a sentiment network, a network of interests among the elderly, traders in the market and residents around the organization). The form of social capital that is formed is bonding social capital with the existence of similarities in profession which can strengthen cooperation between pedicab drivers, bridging social capital to expand cooperation by bridging pedicab drivers with people who have different professions such as traders and linking social capital to connect group members with each other. different social strata.
