dc.description.abstract | This research aims to musically describe the song Dongan Sahuta and the
song Determination by the band Fingerprint. The research method used is a
descriptive qualitative method. The data collection methods used were field
studies, literature studies, and data analysis. In the context of ethnic studies, the
author applies the weighted scale theory. In carrying out melody analysis, the
aspects to be considered include: (1) scale, (2) pitch center, (3) tone area, (4)
number of notes, (5) number of intervals, (6) cadence patterns, (7) melodic
formulas, and (8) contour. Furthermore, to support the weighted scale theory, it is
used by describing the musical composition, which must examine the following
things, namely: (1) tonality, (2) rhythm, (3) form, (4) tempo, and (5) melodic
contour. The results of this research reveal that the song Dongan Sahuta features a
melody that describes feelings of longing and emotional connection with people
who are far from their hometown. This song uses the C - D - D# - E - F - F# - G#
scale with a pulsating rhythm and fast tempo, creating a strong impression of
energy. Meanwhile, the song Determination represents enthusiasm, motivation
and perseverance to face life's challenges. This song adopts easily singable
notation with a tonality pattern that focuses on G minor, a measured rhythm, and a
more moderate tempo. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded
that in these two songs, the lyrics and instrumental melody are played
simultaneously, starting with a fierce distorted guitar playing, then accompanied
by kicking drums and bass and powerful vocals. | en_US |
