Analisis Dampak Banjir pada Kondisi Ekonomi dan Kesehatan Warga di Kelurahan Sei Mati Kota Medan
Abstract
Floods are natural events that occur when water overflows onto land that is
usually dry. Usually floods occur due to an increase in the volume of water in a
body of water such as rivers and lakes, causing the dam to break or the water to
escape from its natural boundaries, thereby submerging the land. Floods can also
be caused by high rainfall or overflowing rivers. This research aims to determine
the impact of flooding on the economy and health in Sei Mati urban village,
Medan City. The data collection technique in the research was carried out by
combining (triangulating) the process of in-depth interviews, observation and
documentation. Then the data will be analyzed by researchers qualitatively and
ended with conclusions drawn from the results of the research that has been
carried out. Based on the research results, the author concluded that the impact of
flooding can be divided into two meanings, namely positive impacts and negative
impacts. During the discussion, researchers found more negative impacts from
flooding in terms of health, such as skin diseases and digestive disorders. Floods
also cause economic losses for the community due to paralysis of community
activities and financial losses that cannot be avoided during floods. However,
from the research results, researchers also concluded that floods have a positive
impact on society, one of which is that people pay more attention to their health
during floods and understand more about disaster mitigation during floods.
