Gambaran Bentuk Penyesuaian dalam Perkawinan Perempuan Batak Toba yang Melangsungkan Tradisi Mangulosi dalam Pernikahan

Abstract

The mangulosi tradition at weddings is very sacred tradition for the bride and groom. The bride of the Toba Batak tribe is even considered illegitimate according to tradition if they don't do the mangulosi. The mangulosi tradition is also a symbol that Batak Toba women have been accepted into the men's family. So, ideally when a woman is married, she becomes the responsibility of the man's family. This research is intended to look at the description of the adjustment of Toba Batak women who carry out the mangulosi tradition in their marriages. This research method uses qualitative methods with snowball sampling data collection techniques. The results of this study are marital adjustment is a long process that Batak Toba women must go through to overcome various demands and pressures. The Batak Toba woman's adjustment will be helped when she has a good relationship and succeeds in adjusting to her partner's family. Based on the results of the two respondents, respondent 2 was helped more in adjusting herself because respondent 2 was close to his parents-in-law so she was easier to adjust to customs, partners, finances, sex and also as a parent. Meanwhile, respondent 1 experienced more difficulties because the spouse's family had a bad relationship with respondent 1 which resulted in respondent 1 having difficulties in other adjustments.
