Faktor yang Berhubungan dengan Skrining Kanker Serviks pada Wanita Usia Subur di Wilayah Puskesmas Tiga Juhar Deli Serdang tahun 2023

Abstract

Cervical cancer is a cancer caused by the growth of abnormal cells in the cervix. In Indonesia, cervical cancer ranks second as a deadly disease that affects women. In 2020, there were 36,633 cases (24.4%) with a mortality rate of 14.4%. The World Health Organization (WHO) aims to have 70% of women screened through the IVA examination program. According to the profile data from the Deli Serdang District Health Office in 2017, out of 281,229 women aged 30–50 years, only 6,306 (approximately 2%) had undergone cervical cancer examination using the IVA method. This study aims to identify the factors associated with cervical cancer screening among WUS in the Tiga Juhar Health Center, Deli Serdang area in 2023. The research conducted was an analytic study with a cross-sectional design. The sample size consisted of 92 married WUS individuals, selected through purposive sampling. Interviews were conducted with the selected samples for data collection. The univariate data were analyzed descriptively, while the bivariate data were analyzed using chi-square tests. The results of the data processing showed that 34.8% of women underwent cervical cancer screening using the IVA method. Based on the chi-square test, a significant relationship was found between knowledge (p = 0.003) and attitude (p = 0.001), health information (p<0.001) and support from health cadres (p<0.001) towards cervical cancer screening in the working area of Tiga Juhar Health Center in 2023. However, husband's support did not show a significant relationship with cervical cancer screening. To improve services and health promotion goals related to cervical cancer screening using the IVA method, community health centers should focus on providing counseling as a preventive measure for cervical cancer.
