dc.description.abstract | This research was conducted to make ruminant feed pellets using Indigofera
Zollingeriana as a concentrate and additional ingredients such as coconut pulp, rice
bran, molasses, cassava, and EM 4. The purpose is to find out how the optimization of
animal feed pellets made from Indigofera Zollingeriana plants with several mixed
ingredients such as rice bran, coconut pulp, cassava, molasses and EM 4 by EM 4
fermentation method on the physical properties, mechanical properties, and chemical
properties of the animal feed pellets. Animal feed was made by mixing Indigofera
Zollingeriana, coconut pulp, rice bran, cassava with a percentage of (55.81% : 22.1%
: 14.73% : 7.365%), as well as molasses and EM 4 in a ratio of 1:1. The test samples
were made by weighing, pulverizing, mixing, fermenting, drying, and molding into
pellets. The results showed that animal feed pellets with Indigofera Zollingeriana plant
concentrate had physical properties that were less in accordance with existing
standard values in the form of specific gravity with a value of 1.96 gr/ml, porosity of
8.84%, water absorption of 68.76%, maturity temperature in feed 38ºC and solubility
in water with 4.36%. Meanwhile, for physical properties in the form of color and odor,
the animal feed produced has a brownish color and a normal smell like animal feed in
general. In mechanical properties, a value for hardness of 5.002% and brittleness of
1.53% were obtained which met the standard value of the animal feed pellets
themselves. As for chemical properties based on proximate analysis, the value of
content in animal feed is obtained in the form of protein 8.22%, total fat 6.78%, crude
fiber 26.4%, carbohydrates 17.4%, ash content 7.50%, and moisture content of 33.7%.
Based on the chemical properties test, only the ash content meets the SNI 3148-2:2017
standard. The quality of these animal feed pellets still needs to be improved | en_US |
