dc.description.abstract | Behavior-based safety (BBS) needs to be implemented in companies or workplaces to reduce the level of work accidents due to unsafe behavior. Belawan Container Terminal is a business unit that uses a lot of heavy equipment that has a high risk in its operation. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of behavior-based safety in loading and unloading workers at the Belawan Container Terminal of PT Pelindo. This research uses descriptive research. The population in this study amounted to 219 people and a sample of 69 people was obtained using the slovin formula. Data collection was carried out by observation and interview methods on 69 samples taken by simple random sampling technique. The data analysis technique was descriptive. BBS enters into safety briefing activities by conveying safety messages such as applying BUMN AKHLAK values, delivering materials related to safety messages, asking workers to reprimand coworkers who behave unsafely and report if there is a work accident and ending the safety briefing with a prayer to be given safety and blessings at work. The section at Belawan Container Terminal consists of stevedoring, cargodoring, and delivery. Based on the results of the study, workers who behaved safely were 60 people (87%) and workers who behaved unsafely were 9 people (13%) found in the stevedoring section. Unsafe behaviors include rushing to work, not following procedures properly, not obeying the rules, and not using safety helmets. Based on analysis using the ABC behavior model, this is influenced by a lack of motivation and encouragement to behave safely while working. Suggestions from this study are that management provide strict punishment for workers who behave unsafely and provide rewards for workers who behave safely and workers further improve discipline during work by complying in order to improve safe behavior at work. | en_US |
