dc.description.abstract | In this era of globalization, there is a greater possibility of potential hazards in the work environment due to the rapid development of industry in Indonesia. Every type and place of work both in formal and informal workers has risks that can cause occupational diseases and work accidents, thus demanding the implementation of occupational safety and health in every workplace. Tailoring is a type of informal work that in the process of work faces the danger of being punctured by sharp objects such as scissors and needles, awkward work postures, noise that will pose a risk to the safety and health of workers if proper control is not carried out. This study aims to identify potential hazards that occur in tailors. The study is a qualitative research with 7 who were selected by purposive sampling technique. Data collection methods used in-depth interviews and observation. The results show that in the process of making patterns, cutting materials, sewing, and installing sequins, workers face mechanical, ergonomic and physical hazards. Mechanical hazards come from being punctured by sharp objects such as scissors and needles. Ergonomic hazards come from awkward working postures. Physical hazards come from noise coming from the workshop. Suggestions given are to provide breaks, provide ergonomic work facilities, reduce noise sources and use earplugs, keep the work area well organized. | en_US |
