Hubungan Stres terhadap Kualitas Tidur dan Menstruasi pada Mahasiswi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sumatera Utara
Abstract
Background. Stress can impact an individual's quality of life, either positively or negatively. Quality of sleep and menstruation can be influenced by various factors, including stress levels. Objective. This research aims to analyze the relationship between stress and the quality of sleep and menstruation among female students of the Faculty of Medicine at the Universitas Sumatera Utara. Method. The study was conducted from September to November 2023, utilizing a qualitative research de-sign with the Kruskal-Wallis test. Consecutive sampling technique and Slovin's for-mula were employed to obtain a sample of 90 individuals. The research instrument consisted of a questionnaire based on the variables of stress levels, sleep quality, and menstruation. Results. Univariate analysis results indicated that 17 individuals (18.9%) experienced mild stress, 68 individuals (75.6%) had moderate stress, and 5 individuals (5.6%) faced severe stress. Regarding sleep patterns, 15.6% had good sleep, 14.4% had moderately good sleep, and 70% had poor sleep. In terms of men-struation, 77 individuals (85.6%) experienced light bleeding, 7 individuals (7.8%) had moderate bleeding, and 6 individuals (6.7%) had heavy bleeding. Conclusion. This research suggests a correlation between stress and sleep quality among female students of the Faculty of Medicine, while the relationship between stress and men-struation indicates no significant association in this population at the Universitas Sumatera Utara.
