Pengaruh Formulasi Basis Pasta CMC-Na dan Karbomer pada Pasta Polishing dari Serbuk Cangkang Kerang Darah (Anadara granosa) terhadap Kekilauan Permukaan Restorasi Resin Komposit Nanohybrid (In Vitro)
Abstract
The success of the restoration is determined by the final stage of the procedure, that is finishing and polishing, which is expected to produce a glossy surface. Materials that have the potential as abrasive materials for polishing pastes is blood clam shell. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of paste base formulation between CMC-Na and carbomer in polishing paste from blood clam shell powder (Anadara granosa) on the glossiness of nanohybrid composite resin restorations surface. The cleaned blood clam shells were pulverized using a ceramic mortar, sieved using a 400 mesh and pulverized using a ball-mill machine. Samples of 24 maxillary premolars were praparated with Class V and restored with nanohybrid composite resin. The samples were divided into 4 groups: polishing with blood shell paste CMC-Na paste base formulation, blood clam shell paste carbomer paste base formulation, commercial paste and no paste. Surface glossiness test of the sample using glossmeter. Statistical analysis was performed using Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney. Kruskal Wallis test results showed there is an effect of polishing paste base formulation on restoration glossiness (p<0.05). Furthermore, Mann Whitney test results showed significant differences between each group (p<0.05). Surfaces polished using blood clam shell polishing paste with carbomer paste base formulation showed higher gloss value than CMC-Na paste base formulation. In conclusion is that carbomer and CMC-Na blood clam shell-based polishing paste base formulations have an effect on surface glossiness.
