Analisis Kadar Particulate Matter 10 (PM10) dan Keluhan Kesehatan pada Kelompok Berisiko di Terminal Pinang Baris Kota Medan Tahun 2023

Abstract

Air pollution is the biggest environmental threat to public health globally, causing approximately seven million deaths each year. Air pollution caused by moving sources, one of which is the transportation sector that produces PM10. PM10 levels that exceed ambient air quality standards can cause health complaints and even death. The purpose of the study was to find out the PM10 levels and health complaints experienced by respondents at Pinang Baris Terminal. The type of research used is descriptive research method. The population in this study were Ministry of Transportation officers, AKAP officers, AKDP officers, traders, and public transportation entry and exit recorders who were at risk groups. The sample in this study amounted to 52 people using the total sampling method. PM10 levels and health complaints arepresented in the form of a frequency distribution table and analyzed descriptively. The results of the measurement of PM10 levels carried out at 3 points showed that only one point met the ambient air quality standards and the highest PM10 levels were at the terminal exit of 172 μg/....3. The majority of respondents in Pinang Baris Terminal experienced respiratory health complaints as many as 38 people (73.1%), for eye health complaints as manyas 33 people (63.5%), and skin health complaints as many as 21 people(40.4%). It is hoped that for at-risk groups at Pinang Baris Terminal can increase awareness of the importance of wearing personal protectiveequipment, namely masks to prevent PM10 exposure and increase the number of plants as fine particle absorbers.
