| dc.description.abstract | Background. Lung carcinoma is all malignant diseases in the lung, including those
originating from outside the lung (lung tumor metastases) or from the lung itself,
these malignancies are caused by the growth of cancer cells which can be caused
by genetic abnormalities and a number of carcinogens such as air pollution,
exposure to cigarette smoke and exposure to pollution in the work environment
Aim. To analyze the relationship between work and histopathological features in
cases of lung carcinoma treated at the Haji Adam Malik Medan General Hospital.
Methods. This study used a descriptive analytic type of observational research with
a cross sectional research design and sampling using purposive sampling technique
with a total of 236 samples. The sample of this study were all patients with lung
carcinoma who were treated at H. Adam Malik Medan Hospital which came from
the patient's medical record data. The analysis used was univariate and bivariate
analysis with Chi-Square Results. Of the 236 patients, 173 patients (73.3%) were
male, 219 patients (92.8%) aged >40 years, the type of work at risk of lung cancer
was 99 patients (41.9%) with the highest frequency coming from farmers as many
as 55 patients (55.6%) and those less at risk 137 patients (58.1%) and coming from
housewives and shopkeepers with 32 patients each (23.4%). There is a
histopathological picture with the most cell types, namely adenocarcinoma 96
patients (40.7%). The results of statistical analysis showed a relationship between
occupation and histopathological features in lung carcinoma cases (P = 0.001)
Conclusion. There is a significant relationship between occupation and
histopathologic features in lung carcinoma cases. | en_US |
