Pengaruh Frekuensi Konsumsi Fast Food terhadap Intensitas Dismenore pada Mahasiswi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sumatera Utara
Abstract
Background. Dysmenorrhea occurs in more than 50% women in the world and becomes women’s health burden in the world. Dysmenorrhea events are frequently associated with several risk factors, one of those is dietary habit. Fast food consumption which has turned into a habit of society in globalization era is reported to be affecting the event and intensity of dysmenorrhea. Objective. To determine the association between fast food consumption and dysmenorrhea intensity in female students at the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sumatera Utara. Method. This observational analytic study with cross-sectional design was conducted on female students at the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sumatera Utara. Data were collected using Lim’s questionnaire for fast food consumption and Numeric Rating Scale for dysmenorrhea intensity. After collecting samples with consecutive sampling technique, 115 samples were acquired. Data were analyzed with Chi Square comparative test to determine the association between both variables mentioned. Result. The p-value obtained was 0.552 (p > 0.05). Conclusion. There is no significant association between fast food consumption and dysmenorrhea intensity in female students at the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sumatera Utara.
