Abstract
Typhoid fever is a fairly serious disease in the world and in Indonesia. WHO states that typhoid fever in the world reaches 11-20 million cases per year which results in around 128,000 - 161,000 deaths each year. Typhoid fever was included in the top 10 most common diseases in hospitalized patients in Indonesian hospitals in 2011 with a total of 41,081 cases. Based on Laporan Kinerja Instansi Pemerintah (LKIP) of the 2021 DINKES PROVSU, typhoid fever is ranked 5th out of the 10 biggest diseases in the inpatient wards of the Fasilitas Pelayanan Kesehatan Lanjutan (FPKL) with a total of 2,515 cases in North Sumatra Province in 2020. The results of the multivariate test showed that there was an effect of the complication variable on the recovery rate of inpatients with typhoid fever at Dr. Pirngadi Medan City 2021.
