Hubungan Lama Pertumbuhan Nodul Tiroid dengan Kejadian Karsinoma Tiroid di RSUP Haji Adam Malik 2020-2023

Abstract

Introduction. Thyroid carcinoma is one of the endocrine malignancies that is quite dangerous and is recorded to occupy 1 - 4% of all malignancies in the world. One of the most common clinical manifestations is thyroid nodules. The duration from the appearance of a thyroid nodule until the patient consults a doctor is not yet known for certain whether it influences the development of the nodule into a malignancy. Objective. To determine the relationship between the duration of thyroid nodule growth and the incidence of thyroid carcinoma at H. Adam Malik General Hospital for the period January 2020 – September 2023. Method. The research design uses observational analytical methods with a crosssectional approach. The sampling technique was carried out using total sampling, where the population in this study was 173 people, including 92 thyroid carcinoma patients and 81 benign thyroid nodule patients at the H. Adam Malik Medan Central General Hospital in 2020 - 2023. Results and discussion. The majority of thyroid carcinoma patients have duration od nodules 3 - 5 years (27.2%), whereas in patients with benign thyroid nodules it takes 1 - 2 years (37.0%) before consulting a doctor. Based on the results of chi-square analysis, it shows that there is no significant relationship between the duration of thyroid nodules growth and the incidence of thyroid carcinoma as evidenced by the pvalue >0.05 (0.109). Conclusion. There is no significant relationship between the duration of thyroid nodule growth and the incidence of thyroid carcinoma. The prevalence of thyroid carcinoma patients reached 53%, while that of benign thyroid nodule patients reached 47%.
