| dc.description.abstract | Background. Skin tags, also known as acrochordons, are benign skin tumors whose
cause is unknown. The prevalence of skin tags in the general population varies
depending on the population studied. Some of the risk factors include people who
are overweight or obese, people with diabetes, sagging skin layers caused by loss
of skin collagen. Hormonal compatibility is also one of the causes of the
appearance or emergence of these skin tags, which could be due to the harmony of
female sex hormones, the hormone estrogen and the hormone progesterone.
Objective. This research aims to find out the characteristics of skin tags in the
Bandar Tarutung Village Community. Method. This research is a descriptive
research study with a cross-sectional research plan. The research population was
the Bandar Tarutung Village Community, South Tapanuli Regency and the sample
was determined using nonprobability sampling, namely consecutive sampling. The
data taken is primary data obtained directly from research subjects using research
instruments in the form of questionnaires. Results. Univariate research analysis
showed that skin tag characteristics based on age were most often found at the age
of 41 - 50 years (33.3%), skin tag characteristics based on gender were most often
found in women (73.3%), skin tag characteristics based on body mass index were
most often found in obesity level I, the characteristics of skin tags based on the
anatomical distribution of the body are mostly found in the neck area (90.0%).
Conclusion. The people of Bandar Tarutung Village, South Tapanulis Regency
have the most characteristics of skin tags at the age of 41-50 years, are female and
are overweight or obese and are mostly found on the neck. | en_US |
