Hubungan Penggunaan APD dengan Gejala Keracunan Pestisida pada Pekerja Penyemprot di Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit Tebing Tinggi PTPN III Tahun 2023
Abstract
Pesticides are chemical substances used to kill or control plants from weeds and pests. Exposure to pesticides can cause health problems experienced in the form of acute poisoning due to not using personal protective equipment (PPE). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the use of PPE and the symptoms of pesticide poisoning in spraying workers in the Tebing Tinggi oil palm plantation of PTPN III in 2023. This type of research is an analytical survey research using a cross sectional design. The study population was 30 sprayers and the sample was the total population. Data were analyzed using the chi square test. The results showed that workers who used complete personal protective equipment were 5 people (16.7%) and incomplete were 25 people (83.3%). Workers who experienced mild symptoms of acute poisoning in the form of headache and mild skin irritation were experienced by 24 people (80.0%) and there were no symptoms of mild acute poisoning as many as 6 people (20.0%). There is a significant relationship (0.041) between the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) with symptoms of pesticide poisoning. Suggestions for workers to use PPE according to standards when working.
