Determinan Kejadian Gagal Jantung Kongestif pada Pasien Rawat Inap Lansia di RSUD Dr Pirngadi Medan Tahun 2023
Abstract
Congestive Heart Failure is a type of end-stage heart disease or complication characterized by the weakening of the function of the heart muscle in pumping oxygen-rich blood which is then circulated throughout the body. The Global Health Data Exchange (GHDx) reported that the prevalence of congestive heart failure cases worldwide reached 8.52 per 1,000 population with a case fatality rate (CFR) of congestive heart failure reaching 13.42 percent. The purpose of this study was to determine the determinants of congestive heart failure in elderly inpatients at RSUD Dr. Pirngadi Medan in 2023. This type of research uses a case control research design. The number of research samples was divided into 2 groups, namely 31 case respondents and 62 control respondents with a ratio of 1: 2 so that the total was 93 samples. Samples were taken using consecutive sampling technique. The research instruments used were questionnaires and medical record data. Univariate data were analyzed descriptively, bivariate and multivariate data were analyzed using binary logistic regression. The results showed that the variables that had an effect on the incidence of congestive heart failure were age (p<0.05), gender (p<0.05), ethnicity (p<0.05), family history (p<0.05) , smoking habit (p<0.05), and hypertension (p<0.05). Variables that had no effect on the incidence of heart failure were education (p>0.05), occupation (p>0.05), and DM (p>0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that the most dominant factor influencing congestive heart failure was family history. It is expected that patients will remain focused on treatment and reduce existing risk factors to avoid recurrent hospitalizations.
