Hubungan Karakteristik Ibu dan Bayi dengan Kejadian Diare pada Bayi di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Pulo Brayan Tahun 2023
Abstract
Diarrhea is the main cause of death in the group of children aged 29 days to 11
months in Indonesia, amounting to 14.5%. In Indonesia, the infant mortality rate is
22 per 1,000 population. Based on the 2018 Indonesia Health Profile, diarrhea
outbreaks occurred in 8 provinces 10 times. In North Sumatra Province, the
prevalence of diarrhea in toddlers is 14.2%, which is above the national rate. At
the Pulo Brayan Health Center, an increase in cases of diarrhea was found from
2021 to 2022. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between
the characteristics of mothers and babies with the incidence of diarrhea in infants
in the working area of the Pulo Brayan Health Center in 2023. This study used a
cross-sectional design. The study population was all infants aged 6-12 months in
the working area of the Pulo Brayan Health Center with a sample of 107 toddlers
taken using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was performed using
univariate and bivariate. Bivariate analysis was performed using the chi-square
test with a significance degree of α=0.05. The results showed that the proportion
of infants who experienced diarrhea was 52.3%. The results showed that there was
a relationship between age (p=0.030), gender (p=0.001), nutritional status
(p=0.001), immunization status (p=0.001) and exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.007),
mother's education (p = 0.005) and mother's knowledge (p = 0.002) and there is no
relationship between mother's work (p = 0.116) and the incidence of diarrhea in
infants in the Pulo Brayan Health Center work area in 2023. It is hoped that Pulo
Brayan Health Center health workers can provide counseling about the importance
of preventing diarrhea to increase mother's knowledge in dealing with diarrhea in
infants.
