An elderly is someone who has reached the age of 60 years or over. The older a person gets the more of their body .function changes, such as cognitive decline. One of the problems caused by cognitive decline is dementia. The elderly suffering from dementia is characterized by a decrease in memory, thinking, and behavior that affect daily activities. The objective of this study is to identify the early detection of dementia in the elderly at Cengkeh Turi. The research uses a descriptive research method with a quantitative approach. The sampling technique employed is purposive sampling and obtains 30 elderly as the respondents. The questionnaire used is the MMSE. The results show that 26 elderly (86.7%) do not have dementia (normal) while 4 elderly (13.3%) have mild dementia. It is suggested that health workers maximize the efforts on early detection of dementia so that the elderly who are detected with dementia can immediately be treated.en_US
