dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to describe the personality of male and female convicts in murder cases at the Medan Penitentiary. This study involved 115 male inmates and 10 female inmates who were selected using a simple random sampling technique. The personality trait was assessed by Indonesian Big Five Inventory (BFI) that has been adapted by Ramdhani (2012) which consists of 44 items. Descriptive statistical analysis was used in this research. The results of this study indicate that conscientiousness is generally the most prominent dimension for male convicts, in general female prisoners the most prominent dimension is extraversion and the low dimension in both is neuroticism. Based on the age range 20-40 years for male and female prisoners indicates that the most common dimension is extraversion. Meanwhile, in the age range of 40-65 years, indicates that the most common dimension is conscientiousness, while the neuroticism is the lowest for both age ranges. It is hoped that this research can provide input to correctional institutions in making prevention efforts and to related parties in evaluating or intervening efforts. | en_US |
