Patriotisme pada Masyarakat Miskin di Kota Medan

Abstract

This research is a descriptive research that aims to find out the description of patriotism in the poor people in Medan City. This study involved 101 poor people as research participants. Sampling was carried out using a non-probability technique with the incidental sampling method. The data obtained in this study were processed using descriptive analysis. The measuring instrument is a questionnaire, a patriotism scale based on the theory put forward by Blank & Schmidt (2003). The results showed that 85 people (84.1%) of participants had high patriotism, 15 people (14,8%) of participants had medium patriotism and 1 people (0,9%) of the number of participants had low patriotism. The test results show that patriotism in the poor people of Medan City is in the high category. There are two aspects that can measure patriotism, namely the democratic aspect of patriotism and constructive criticism of one's country. In addition to these aspects, there are also three factors that influence patriotism, namely, the age factor, the education or knowledge factor, and the gender factor.
