Introduction. Hemorrhagic stroke is a rupture of a brain blood vessel which
results in the release of blood into the brain parenchymal tissue or the
cerebrospinal space around the brain or a combination of both. Hemorrhagic
strokes account for 15% of total strokes and the disability burden is greater than
ischemic strokes. Objective. To describe the characteristics of hemorrhagic stroke
in hemorrhagic stroke patients in the ICU of Prof. Chairuddin P. Lubis Medan
Hospital in January 2021 – March 2023. Method. The research method is
descriptive observational with a retrospective approach. The population is
hemorrhagic stroke patients at Prof. Chairuddin P. Lubis Medan Hospital with 47
patients as sample. The data used is secondary data obtained from medical
records which include Gender, Age, Type of Bleeding, Location of Bleeding,
Hypertension, Dyslipidemia, Diabetes mellitus, Smoking, Bleeding Volume, and
Treatment. Results. The dominant characteristics of hemorrhagic stroke patients
are male (68.1%) and age group >65 years (elderly) (36.2%). The most common
type of bleeding is intracerebral hemorrhage (70.2%), the most common bleeding
location is Deep Cerebral (34%), the most common bleeding volume is 0-15 cc
(59.9%) and the most common treatment is observation (74.5%). The most
common risk factors were hypertensive emergencies (34%) and smoking (38.3%).
More patients did not suffer from dyslipidemia (80.9%) and diabetes mellitus
