dc.description.abstract | Background. Obesity is a global public health problem that can increase the risk of disease,
including in university students. Some of the causes are unhealthy diet, sleep quality, and
physical activity due to the daily activities of university students. Objective. To determine the
relationship between diet, sleep quality, and physical activity with the incidence of obesity in
Medical Education Study Program Students at Universitas Sumatera Utara. Method. This
study is an analytical study using a cross-sectional design and using the Food Recall 2x24-
hour questionnaire for diet, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) for sleep quality, and
the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) for physical activity against the
incidence of obesity, with the use of data analysis methods in the form of correlation tests and
logistic regression tests. Results. From the collection of respondent data, the results showed a
significant correlation between dietary factors (P=0,014) on the incidence of obesity.
However, the physical activity and sleep quality factor against obesity did not show a
significant result. In the variable quality of sleep is the dominant factor causing the incidence
of obesity in students (PR=3.401; P=0.053). Conclusion. This study concluded that there was
a significant relationship between diet and the incidence of obesity but there was no significant
relationship in the factors of sleep quality and physical activity. | en_US |
