Background. Lately, metabolic syndrome has become a public health problem in the world which is mostly related to sedentary lifestyle. Many studies on metabolic syndrome have found that each component of metabolic syndrome is associated with the incidence of CKD and confirmed that metabolic syndrome can cause changes in kidney structure and function. Nonetheless, there are reports that show an insignificant relationship. Therefore, further research needs to be done. Objective. To analyze the relationship between sample’s history of diseases which is hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and dyslipidemia, history of medications, history of physical activity, and family’s history of diseases on the incidence of metabolic syndrome in CKD. Method. This research is a descriptive-analytic study with a cross-sectional design. The samples used were hemodialysis patients who met the criterion. The data was then analyzed using the Chi-square test. Results. The results show that around 3.6% of samples have metabolic syndrome. In addition, it was found that there is a relationship between history of diseases such as hypertension, diabetes (p<0,001), obesity (p<0,001), dyslipidemia (p=0,020), and history of medications (p=0,003) on the incidence of metabolic syndrome in CKD. However, there was no relationship with history of physical activity and history of family’s diseases. Conclusion. The prevalence of respondents with metabolic syndrome is 3.6%. History of diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, dyslipidemia, and history of medication are factors that influence the incidence of metabolic syndrome in CKD.en_US
