Profil Kegawatdaruratan Pasien Anak Berdasarkan Pediatric Early Warning Score di Instalasi Gawat Darurat Rumah Sakit Umum Pusat Haji Adam Malik Medan Tahun 2022

Abstract

Background. High morbidity and mortality rates in pediatric patients indicate the necessity of Pediatric Early Warning Score (PEWS) capable of early clinical deterioration identification and providing opportunity for healthcare professionals to promptly manage patients. Objective. To determine the emergency profile of pediatric patients based on PEWS in Emergency Department of RSUP H. Adam Malik, Medan 2022. Methods. This study utilized descriptive method with crosssectional design and consecutive sampling technique with 119 research samples. Results. The majority of gender was male (54.6%), the majority of age group was 1-4 years old (37.8%), the majority of nutritional status was good nutrition (53.8%), the majority of disease group was infection (31.1%). Both male and female majority had green PEWS (54.6%) and (45.4%), majority of patients with age range of 1 month to 5 years had red PEWS, majority of infectious disease group had green PEWS, and majority of patients with green PEWS had discharge outcome. Conclusion. This study provides an overview of characteristics in pediatric patients and shows the majority of pediatric emergency department patients come with non-emergency conditions.
