Hubungan Kualitas Tidur dengan Fungsi Kognitif pada Siswa SMA Kalam Kudus Medan
Abstract
Introduction. Sleep is a passive event that is essential for physical and mental
recovery. Poor sleep quality causes drowsiness in learning, tardiness, reduced
concentration, lazy speech, morning fatigue, increased risk of drug and alcohol use,
increased irritability, more aggression, and disrupted relationships with people
around them. Sleep deprivation in adolescence can put adolescents at risk of
depression, lack of focus, and a decline in school grades. Objectives. This study
aims to determine the relationship between sleep quality and cognitive function of
SMA Kalam Kudus Medan students. Method. This study used a cross-sectional
analytic method, data were collected only once and simultaneously with validated
questionnaires, namely the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Mini Mental
State Examination (MMSE). The sampling technique used to determine the sample
size was stratified random sampling and a total of 80 people were obtained. Data
were analyzed using SPSS with the spearman correlation test. Results. As many as
75% of respondents experienced poor sleep quality, mostly female and 15 years
old. The study showed no significant relationship between sleep quality and
cognitive function (p=0.957) with a very weak correlation value (d=0.006).
Conclusion. There is no relationship between sleep quality and cognitive function
of SMA Kalam Kudus Medan students.
