Tingkat Pengetahuan Tentang Penyakit Kusta pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat Universitas Sumatera Utara

Abstract

Introduction. Leprosy, also known as Hansen’s disease, is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium Leprae and has haunted humans for centuries. Despite major advances in treatment and prevention, leprosy remains a significant global health problem. Until now, leprosy still affects the lives of millions of people throughout the world. This disease not only has serious health impacts, but also creates long-lasting social stigma for affected individuals. Objective. to identify the level of knowledge about leprosy among students at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Sumatera Utara. Method. The study carried out was descriptive, namely a cross sectional research design. In this study, the sample was students from the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Sumatera Utara class 2020, 2021 and 2022 who were taken using proportionate stratified random sampling. Results. The level of knowledge about leprosy among students at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Sumatera Utara is good with 53 people (53%) having good knowledge, 37 people (37%) having sufficient knowledge and 10 people (10%) having less knowledge. Conclusion. The level of knowledge about leprosy among students at the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Sumatera utara is generally considered good.
