There are three things that focus on motivational beliefs that are able to encourage students' desire to apply self-regulated learning strategies, one of which is goal orientation. The purpose of this research is to find out how big a role goal orientation plays in self-regulated learning in MAN 2 Medan Model students. This research uses quantitative methods with simple linear regression statistical analysis. The number of participants in this research was 315 students using accidental sampling technique. The instrument used is a goal orientation scale which is prepared based on aspects of goal orientation byElliot et. al.,(2000), and the selfregulated learning scale which is compiled based on aspects of self-regulated learning according to Zimmermann (1989). The results of this research data analysis show p (0.001) < 0.05. Then an R2 score of 0.447 was obtained, which means that there is a role of goal orientation of 44.7% in self-regulated learning in MAN 2 Model Medan students.en_US
