dc.description.abstract | Future anxiety that occurs has a negative impact on students, including difficulty making decisions, forgetfulness, eating and sleeping disorders to decreased academic performance. The various negative impacts arising from future anxiety are of course very detrimental to college students, a decrease in academic achievement is a crucial impact that may occur on college students. This makes demands that future anxiety in college students can be reduced. One effort to reduce future anxiety is self-affirmation. Self-affirmation is self-reflection in which a person will reflect on important values for himself. This technique itself focuses on the cognitive aspects of a person by assessing, living, and writing down core values for the sake of being able to function properly when facing the threat of future anxiety. This study used a pretest-posttest control group design and used the random assignment method (N = 12) to undergraduate students at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Sumatera Utara, class of 2022. It showed that there were significant differences in the results of the experimental and control groups. The results of this study compared the values of the experimental and control groups with the results (0.037) and in each group, namely (0.860) in the control group and (0.029) in the experimental group. This shows that there is a significant difference in reducing future anxiety by doing self-affirmation techniques on students. | en_US |
