The performance of an effective employee arises because of the work spirit that drives him. In an organization it is the responsibility of a leader to encourage and direct his subordinates in order to provide optimal and quality work results. Effective leadership is the key to achieving excellence in the organization. One of the basic problems that usually occurs in an organization is how to improve employee performance. This study aims to see and analyze the influence of transformational and transactional leadership on employee performance. The subjects in this study were employees of the PPKS Medan amounting to 150 people. This research was conducted using quantitative methods by distributing questionnaires as a data collection method. The result showed that the transformational and transactional leadership style simultaneously had a positive effect on employee performance with a value of Fcount ≥ Ftable (69.843 ≥ 3.05). Transactional leadership style is a dominant predictor in improving employee performance. The implication of this study shows that to improve employee performance, it can be improved with transformational and transactional leadership style variable in the organization.
