Pengenalan Data KTP Calon Peserta MTQ Tingkat Kota Medan Menggunakan Metode Optical Character Recognition

Abstract

Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) is an Islamic art competition that focuses on conveying the messages of the Al-Qur'an in everyday life by reading, memorizing, writing, understanding, interpreting, and conveying the guidance of the Al-Qur'an. This competition has 25 branches, each of which has criteria for registrants, as evidenced by attaching an Identity Card document. Identity Card is the official identity of a resident as proof of identity that is valid throughout Indonesia. At the MTQ registration at the Medan City level, they still use the manual method, namely filling out the registration form and attaching the relevant original documents. This registration process only lasts for 3 days, with details of registrants from 21 sub-districts throughout Medan City. Therefore, to overcome this problem, it is necessary to have a system in place that can assist officials in the registration process and assist the committee in validating Identity Card documents for prospective MTQ participants. Seven data fields are read, namely NIK, name, gender, place of birth, date of birth, job, and address. This study uses the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) method with the template matching algorithm. In this reserch, the total dataset used was 132 images, with 25 images used as training data and 107 images used as test data. The method used produces an accuracy rate of 93.29%.
