    Abstract
Game addiction is a game that is played excessively over the internet using computers, smartphones and consoles which results in dependence on the players so that WHO classifies this addiction as a mental disorder, which has an influence on physical activity. This research was conducted to determine the relationship between game addiction and physical activity, to analyze students who are addicted to games and to analyze the physical activity of students who play games at the Faculty of Public Health, University of North Sumatra. The research methodology is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach which was carried out from December 2021 to May 2022. The population in this study were USU FKM students from 2017 to 2020, totaling 1251 people, taking samples using the Sample Cross Sectional formula. The research sample consisted of 82 students using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The data collection method uses a questionnaire through the Google form. Game addiction was measured using the Game Addiction Scale for Adolescents questionnaire by Lemmens and physical activity was measured by Physical Activity Level (PAL). Based on the results of the study, students who experienced game addiction (76.8%), students who were not addicted to games (23.2%), students with less physical activity (81.7%), students with moderate physical activity (18.3%) ), the chi-square statistical test, obtained p = 0.037 or p <0.05, which means that there is a relationship between game addiction and physical activity in students of the Faculty of Public Health, University of North Sumatra with an OR value of 4.010, which means that students who are addicted to games are four times more at risk to engage in sedentary behavior. This research shows that there is a relationship between game addiction and physical activity in students of the Faculty of Public Health, University of North Sumatra in 2021. Based on the results of this study, it is hoped that there will be an appeal from the dean for optimizing physical activity on campus such as mandatory gymnastics and an appeal to lecturers for students such as taking periodic breaks and jointly doing stretching in the middle of learning/changing lecture schedules and making assignments that require students to move around such as the task of exercising every week and having reports/documentation.
