Nutrition and food problems in Indonesia are very complex. In Medan in 2022, there are 15,4% of toddlers experienced stunting, 9,2% of toddlers experienced wasting, 14,7% of toddlers experienced underweight, and 1,8% of toddlers experienced overweight. Toddlers are one of the most vulnerable to nutritional problems, especially those under 2 years of age. Knowledge of parents, especially mothers and inadequate food intake of toddlers are among the causes of nutritional problems in toddlers. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between maternal knowledge about under-twos nutrition and food intake of under-twos with the nutritional status of children aged 6-24 months. This research is an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design. Based on the results of the Fisher Exact Test, it was found that there was a relationship between maternal knowledge and under-twos energy intake (p value = 0,033) and there was a relationship between maternal knowledge and under-twos carbohydrate intake (p value = 0,047), but there was no relationship between maternal knowledge and under-twos protein intake (p value = 0,897) and there is no relationship between maternal knowledge and under-twos fat intake (p value = 0,442). This research also found that there was a relationship between under-twos energy intake and under-twos nutritional status based on weight for age (p value = 0,006), but there was no relationship between under-twos energy intake and under-twos nutritional status based on length for age and weight for length (p value = 0,673; 0,185). The research results also found that there were no relationships between maternal knowledge and the nutritional status of toddlers based on weight for age (p value = 0,919), length for age (p value = 0,364), and weight for length (p value = 0,243). To improve the macronutrient intake of under-twos so they can meet nutritional adequacy, nutrition education should be carried out by health workers at community health centers so that the knowledge of under-twos mothers about under-twos nutrition increases.
