Mental workload is the difference between the workload of a task demand and a person's mental load capacity. The higher the mental workload, the lower the worker's performance, and vice versa. This study aims to analyze factors related to mental workload on cafe workers in Medan Baru district. This type of research is a descriptive analytical survey with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study were 827 workers in 77 cafes in Medan Baru district and a sample of 89 workers using a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the highest mental workload category is the high category (61,8%). The most dominant parameter value is the level of effort (23,2%). Factors related to mental workload are characteristics with the largest proportion in the age range 17-25 years (52,8%) with the highest level of education being high school/equivalent (71,9%) and new category of work experience (<5 years) (79,8%). The highest task demands factor is in the bad category (77,5%), the highest work organization factor is in the bad category (50,6%) and the highest work environment factor is in the bad category (93,3%). Based on the results of statistical tests using Chi Square, the results showed that there was no relationship between characteristics (age, last education, length of service) to mental workload (p>0,05). For the task demands to mental workload factors, the results showed that there was a significant relationship with p value (0,001). Work organization factors to mental workload, the results showed that there was no relationship with p value (0,811). Meanwhile, psychological work environment factors to mental workload have a significant relationship with p value (0,000). The study recommends cafe workers to implement an ideal healthy work pattern where physical and mental activity is balance.en_US
