dc.description.abstract | This research aims to purify used cooking oil using adsorbents based on pahae natural zeolite and rice husk activated carbon. Zeolite as matrix and rice husk activated carbon as filler were made into powder with a size of 63μm (230 mesh),
then chemically activated using 10% KOH solution, stirred for 1 hour and then dried at 100°C. The rice husk was sieved with a 63μm (230 mesh) sieve, then washed and carbonized in an oven at 300°C for 2 hours. The composition variation of adsorbent based on pahae natural zeolite and rice husk activated carbon is 100%: 0%, 0% :
100%, 95% : 5%, 90% : 10%, 85% : 15%, 80% : 20%, then printed using a
Hydraullic press with a load period of 6 tons for 10 minutes, then physically activated at 600°C for 2 hours. Adsorbents were characterized to determine physical properties (porosity and water absorption), mechanical properties (hardness), surface morphology and composition of the material (SEM-EDX), elemental content (XRF), XRD testing, and adsorbent application tests on cooking oil refining (density,
viscosity, water content, pH, color and odor. The results of the application test showed a decrease in density, viscosity, moisture content, free fatty acid content and
an increase in pH value as well as a change in color from brownish to pale yellow and odor to normal. | en_US |
