Analisis Kandungan Timbal pada Selada yang Dijual di Pasar Tradisional dan Pasar Modern Kecamatan Medan Sunggal Tahun 2023
Abstract
Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is a vegetable that is favored by the public because it is cheap and has high nutrition. Generally, lettuce is consumed raw as vegetables. Lettuce has a leaf shape that is often contaminated with heavy metals, especially during the sales process. The dense activity of motor vehicles causes the emergence of lead that pollutes lettuce when at the selling location, making it dangerous for health and the environment. This study aims to analyze lead levels on lettuce before and after washing sold at Kampung Lalang Traditional Market and Pondok Indah Pasar Buah modern market in Medan Sunggal Subdistrict. This research is descriptive with laboratory examination using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) method to determine lead levels on lettuce. The results showed that lettuce sold in Pasar Kampung Lalang based on selling distance from road of 0 meters, 2 meters, and 5 meters contained lead that exceeded the maximum limit of lead contamination in accordance with the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency Regulation Number 5 of 2018, which is 0,2 mg/kg. While lettuce sold at Pondok Indah Pasar Buah contains lead below the detection limit. The distance of the selling location that is getting closer to the busy vehicle activity and availability of the base or serving container cover affects the presence or absence of lead contained on lettuce. Washing treatment using flowing water for 2 minutes before consumed can reduce lead levels on lettuce up to >44%.
