dc.description.abstract | Breast cancer is also called Carcinoma Mammary, which is an abnormal growth of cells that is felt as a lump or what is called a tumor. The highest incidence rate in Indonesia for women is breast cancer, namely 42.1 per 100,000 population with an average death rate of 17 per 100,000 population. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between family history and the use of hormonal contraception with the incidence of breast cancer at H. Adam Malik General Hospital Medan in 2023. This type of research is analytical research using a cross sectional design. The total research sample was 96 patients using accidental sampling technique. Univariate data was analyzed descriptively and bivariate data was analyzed using the chi square test. The results of the study showed that the highest proportion of breast cancer sufferers based on patient characteristics were the age group > 50 years (61,5%), Batak ethnicity (45,8%), high school education (39.6%), occupation as Housewives (60.4%), marital status (94.8%), cancer stage was stage III (36.5%), age at menarche ≥ 12 years (77.1% ), obesity status BMI < 25 (59.4%), history of breastfeeding (85.4%), no family history (78.1%), use of hormonal contraception (54.2%), hormonal contraceptive pills (48,0%), and long use of hormonal contraception for ≥ 5 years (51,9%). There is a significant relationship between family history (p=0,046), use of hormonal contraception (p=0,036), type of hormonal contraception (p=0,042) and duration of use of hormonal contraception (p=0,033) with the incidence of breast cancer at RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan in 2023. For RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan and existing medical officers are expected to be able to carry out surveillance activities for early detection and prevention to reduce the occurrence of breast cancer. | en_US |
