Tailors do work manually with sewing machines. Tailors work in convections to sew pieces of cloth into ready-made clothing such as shirts, sportswear and service clothes. Sewing activities are risky for tailors because of the repetitive hand movements. Tailors also experience musculoskeletal complaints during and after sewing. Activities carried out continuously over a long period can cause muscle fatigue and fatigue in parts of the body. This study aimed to identify the ergonomic risks and complaints of musculoskeletal disorders among tailors of Konveksi Dian Jaya Medan. This research is a quantitative study with a descriptive analysis involving 19 workers (total sampling) from tailors at the convection. Data collection used primary data in the form of ergonomic risk assessment using the Strain Index and Nordic Body Map (NBM) to assess musculoskeletal complaints. The results of the Strain Index analysis showed that 11 tailors (57.9 %) had a high risk on the left hand and a moderate risk level on the right hand. The highest risk results were obtained for repetitive movements, where 42.1% of seamstresses had >19 repetitive movements performed on average per minute when making hand and arm movements that shift the fabric when sewing. The results of the assessment of musculoskeletal disorder complaints showed that 14 people (73.7%) of the tailors had a low risk of MSDs. The biggest complaint felt was in the left hand, as many as 36.8% of the tailors felt very sick and sore. Tailors are advised to provide padding to their hands so as not to put too much pressure on the sewing table to reduce complaints of pain in the muscles. Convection owners are advised to replace Onitex sewing machines with Topeagle automatic template-sewing machines to reduce the risk of ergonomics of repetitive movements for tailors.
