dc.description.abstract | The inability of drainage to accommodate rainwater are blamed for causing flooding. Specifically in the Jalan Punak area, the issue raised was motivated by the frequent occurrence of floods and pools of rainwater in the area, especially during the rainy season. Therefore, an assessment of the drainage channel capacity will be carried out to determine the capacity of the drainage channel to accommodate flood discharge.
This research began in the even semester of the 2022-2023 academic year and the case study was carried out in the Jalan Punak area, Medan Petisah District, Medan City. The data collected in this research is primary data in the form of existing drainage system data and flow condition data as well as secondary data in the form of daily maximum rainfall data from BMKG Sampali, BMKG Helvetia and BMKG Region 1. In this research the Pearson III bar distribution was used and intensity values were obtained. rainfall using the mononobe formula for a 5 year return period is 127,451 mm/hour.
From the results of the evaluation of the 5 year return period flood discharge plan using the rational method, Qr1 = 3,569 m3/sec and Qr2 = 2,169 m3/sec. Calculating the existing channel capacity, it is obtained that Qek1 = 2,061 m3/sec and Qek2 = 1,643 m3/sec. Based on the comparison results of the channel flow discharge and the flow plan above, it can be seen that the existing drainage channels 1 and 2 were unable to accommodate the flood discharge, resulting in pools of water leaking out of the channel and inundating the surrounding area. This problem can be overcome by redesigning the drainage channel | en_US |
